Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and how we share it.

1. Introduction

HerdDirect LLC ("we", "us", "our") operates herddirect.net. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your information when you visit our website or purchase beef through our marketplace. By using HerdDirect, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly, including your name, email address, phone number, and delivery address (provided during checkout). We also automatically collect browsing data, such as pages visited, device type, and approximate location, through cookies and similar technologies. Payment information (such as card numbers) is entered directly into Stripe's secure payment form and is not seen or stored by us.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your personal information to: process, fulfill, and deliver your orders; send order confirmations and delivery status updates; communicate with the partner farm preparing and shipping your beef; respond to your questions and support requests; send service and policy notices; and improve, maintain, and secure the platform. We may use aggregated, de-identified data to understand how the marketplace is used and to develop new features.

4. Sharing Your Information

We share your information only as necessary to operate the service and fulfill your order. Specifically, we share your name, delivery address, phone number, and order details with the partner farm that fulfills your order so they can prepare and ship your beef. We use Stripe to process payments; Stripe receives the payment information needed to authorize and complete your transaction. We may also disclose information when required by law, to respond to legal requests, or to protect our rights, safety, or property. We do not sell your personal data to any third party, and we do not rent or trade your information.

5. Third-Party Services

We rely on trusted third-party services that may collect and process data under their own privacy policies. These include Stripe for payment processing and analytics providers for understanding site usage. We encourage you to review Stripe's privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties, and we encourage you to review their policies.

6. Data Retention

We keep your personal information only as long as necessary to provide our services, fulfill orders, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Order and account records may be retained for as long as your account is active or as needed to comply with legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. When data is no longer needed, we delete it or remove identifying details.

7. Data Security

We use industry-standard encryption and security practices to protect your personal information. Payment details are handled by Stripe and are not stored on our servers. Access to personal information is limited to authorized personnel who need it to operate the service. While no system is perfectly secure, we work to safeguard your data and continually review our security measures.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data. You may also opt out of marketing communications at any time. To exercise any of these rights, email us at theherd@herddirect.net and include enough detail so we can identify your information. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe, generally within 30 days.

9. Children's Privacy

HerdDirect is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at theherd@herddirect.net and we will take steps to delete it.

10. Cookies

We use cookies for analytics and session management. Cookies help us understand how visitors use the site and keep you signed in during your visit. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not function properly without them.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the bottom of this page. Material changes will be communicated through the website. We encourage you to review this page periodically to stay informed about how we protect your information.

12. Contact Us
